Mishawaka Varsity Cavemen Fall To Penn Varsity Kingsmen Despite Strong Effort From Shawn Nowacki

By GameChanger Media Shawn Nowacki collected three hits in three at bats, but Mishawaka Varsity Cavemen lost to Penn Varsity Kingsmen 12-2 on Friday at LaPorte High School. Nowacki hit a solo home run to center field in the first inning, tripled in the fifth inning, and singled in the third inning. Penn Varsity Kingsmen got on the board in the top of the first inning after Mishawaka Varsity Cavemen committed an error, Mason Braun singled down the right field line, and Bennett Hartford hit a sacrifice fly, each scoring one run. Nowacki hit a solo home run to center field in the bottom of the first for the Mishawaka Varsity Cavemen. Penn Varsity Kingsmen added two runs in the third after William Barnes tripled to right field. Colton Rerick earned the win for Penn Varsity Kingsmen. The hurler surrendered five hits and two runs over six innings, striking out 10 and walking one. Colton Handley took the loss for Mishawaka Varsity Cavemen. The hurler went three innings, allowing six runs (two earned) on four hits, striking out one and walking none. Penn Varsity Kingsmen accumulated nine hits in the game. Gavin Taylor, Penn Varsity Kingsmen's number seven hitter, led the team with three hits in four at-bats. River Pecina collected two hits for Penn Varsity Kingsmen in three at bats.
