Mishawaka Varsity Cavemen Defeat Mishawaka Marian Varsity Knights By GameChanger Media Mishawaka Varsity Cavemen were victorious against Mishawaka Marian Varsity Knights 9-5 on Saturday at Mishawaka High School Ward Baker Park. Mishawaka Varsity Cavemen got on the board in the second inning after Jayden Pyle lined out, scoring one run. Mishawaka Marian Varsity Knights took the lead in the top of the third inning after Will Coughlin doubled down the left field line, and Ryne O'Hara hit a sacrifice fly, each scoring one run. Drew Ginter homered to right field, which helped Mishawaka Varsity Cavemen tie the game at two in the bottom of the third. Mishawaka Varsity Cavemen took the lead in the bottom of the fourth inning after Pyle hit a sacrifice fly, and Aiden Rogers doubled down the left field line, each scoring one run. Mishawaka Marian Varsity Knights captured the lead, 5-4, in the top of the fifth after Mishawaka Varsity Cavemen committed an error, Isaac Gill singled down the right field line, and Jake Vanbruaene singled down the left field line, each scoring one run. Mishawaka Varsity Cavemen took the lead in the bottom of the sixth inning after Colton Handley singled down the right field line, Mishawaka Varsity Cavemen scored on a wild pitch, Ginter singled to left field, Braedyn Smith singled to center field, and Mishawaka Marian Varsity Knights committed an error, each scoring one run. Smith earned the win for Mishawaka Varsity Cavemen. The hurler gave up zero hits and zero runs over one and two-thirds innings, striking out one and walking two. Cole Hundt took the loss for Mishawaka Marian Varsity Knights. The reliever went two-thirds of an inning, allowing three runs (one earned) on three hits, striking out one and walking none.
