Mishawaka Varsity Cavemen Secure Win Against Michigan City Varsity Wolves

By GameChanger Media Mishawaka Varsity Cavemen beat Michigan City Varsity Wolves 11-7 on Wednesday. Michigan City Varsity Wolves opened the scoring in the first after an error scored one run. Mishawaka Varsity Cavemen jumped back into the lead in the bottom of the third inning after Shawn Nowacki singled down the left field line, Kamdon Putz walked, Will Hartzke walked, and Keegan Cowgill balked, each scoring one run. Braedyn Smith earned the win for Mishawaka Varsity Cavemen. The starter gave up four hits and three runs (two earned) over five innings, striking out nine and walking four. Cowgill took the loss for Michigan City Varsity Wolves. The pitcher went three innings, giving up six runs (five earned) on three hits, striking out three and walking four. Drew Ginter tossed one inning of shutout ball for Mishawaka Varsity Cavemen in relief. The pitcher allowed zero hits, striking out two and walking one. Nowacki led Mishawaka Varsity Cavemen with three runs batted in. The leadoff hitter went 2-for-4 on the day. Mishawaka Varsity Cavemen had a strong eye at the plate, amassing 11 walks for the game. Hartzke, Ginter, Putz, and Smith led the team with two walks each. Hartzke and Aiden Rogers each stole multiple bases for Mishawaka Varsity Cavemen. Mishawaka Varsity Cavemen ran wild on the base paths, tallying seven stolen bases for the game. Mishawaka Varsity Cavemen turned one double play in the game.
