By GameChanger Media Thursday's game against Elkhart Lions C-Team was a heartbreaker for Mishawaka Freshman Cavemen, as they lost the lead late in a 5-4 defeat. The game was tied at four in the top of the seventh when Hayden Wright singled, scoring one run. Elkhart Lions C-Team got on the board in the fourth inning after Isaiah Hunt doubled, scoring one run. Mishawaka Freshman Cavemen captured the lead, 4-1, in the bottom of the fourth when Landon Rose drew a walk, scoring one run, Liam Summers grounded out, scoring one run, and Dominic Fazio singled, scoring two runs. Elkhart Lions C-Team tied the game in the top of the fifth thanks to a single by Wyatt Claeys, and a double by Hunt. Chason Geyer earned the win for Elkhart Lions C-Team. The starter surrendered zero hits and zero runs over three and one-third innings, striking out four and walking three. Johnny Huemmer took the loss for Mishawaka Freshman Cavemen. The hurler went seven innings, surrendering five runs (four earned) on eight hits, striking out 12 and walking two. Fazio led Mishawaka Freshman Cavemen with two runs batted in from the number nine spot in the lineup. The right-handed hitter went 1-for-2 on the day. Gaeton Groninger, Carmello Joiner, Fazio, and Akeem Chester each collected one hit for Mishawaka Freshman Cavemen. Huemmer paced Mishawaka Freshman Cavemen with two walks. Overall, the team had patience at the plate, piling up six walks for the game. Hunt provided pop in the middle of the lineup, and led Elkhart Lions C-Team with three runs batted in. The cleanup hitter went 2-for-4 on the day. Hunt, Claeys, and Aiden Obrien each collected two hits for Elkhart Lions C-Team. Elkhart Lions C-Team didn't commit a single error in the field.
