By GameChanger Media Mishawaka Varsity Cavemen couldn't keep up with Warsaw Varsity Tigers and fell 10-4 on Thursday at Mishawaka High School Ward Baker Park. Warsaw Varsity Tigers jumped out to the lead in the top of the first inning after Quinton Brock doubled, scoring one run, and Grady Nelson homered to right field, scoring two runs. Shawn Nowacki singled down the left field line, which helped Mishawaka Varsity Cavemen tie the game at three in the bottom of the fourth. Warsaw Varsity Tigers took the lead in the top of the fifth inning after Kellan Bailey singled to the left side of the infield, Hunter Dippon grounded into a double play, and Mishawaka Varsity Cavemen committed an error, each scoring one run. Brock Bowser earned the win for Warsaw Varsity Tigers. The reliever surrendered four hits and two runs (one earned) over five innings, striking out nine and walking one. Landon Johns took the loss for Mishawaka Varsity Cavemen. The starter went five and two-thirds innings, surrendering 10 runs (seven earned) on seven hits, striking out three and walking seven. Zac Miller led things off on the bump for Warsaw Varsity Tigers. The starter gave up zero hits and two runs over one inning, striking out two and walking four. Noah Deeds, Nowacki, Braedyn Smith, and Jayden Pyle each collected one hit for Mishawaka Varsity Cavemen. Nowacki and Brady Hoopingarner each drove in one run for Mishawaka Varsity Cavemen. Mishawaka Varsity Cavemen turned two double plays in the game. Brock and Nelson were a one-two punch in the lineup, as each drove in two runs for Warsaw Varsity Tigers. Logan Kim collected two hits for Warsaw Varsity Tigers in three at bats. Warsaw Varsity Tigers had patience at the plate, piling up seven walks for the game. Kim and Oliver Nisen led the team with two bases on balls each. Mishawaka Varsity Cavemen play at home on Friday against New Prairie Varsity Cougars in their next game.
