Mishawaka Junior Varsity Cavemen With Tough Game Against Northridge Junior Varsity Raiders

By GameChanger Media Mishawaka Junior Varsity Cavemen couldn't keep up with Northridge Junior Varsity Raiders and fell 19-6 on Monday at Mishawaka High School Ward Baker Park. Northridge Junior Varsity Raiders got on the board in the top of the first inning after Thomas Nusbaum hit a sacrifice fly, Hayden Gorball hit a sacrifice fly, Chase Garman singled down the left field line, and Parker Kees stole home, each scoring one run. A double by Nusbaum, a single by Gorball, and a single by Michael Pointon helped Northridge Junior Varsity Raiders extend their early lead in the second. A single by Collin Hauser extended the Northridge Junior Varsity Raiders lead to 9-4 in the top of the third inning. Northridge Junior Varsity Raiders scored nine runs on three hits in the top of the fifth inning. An error scored one run, Nusbaum singled, scoring one run, Lucas Eash singled, scoring two runs, Garman drew a walk, scoring one run, a passed ball scored one run, Jacob Lehman drew a walk, scoring one run, and Quinn Knepp hit a sacrifice fly, scoring two runs. Sam Canfield earned the win for Northridge Junior Varsity Raiders. The starter gave up three hits and five runs (three earned) over two and one-third innings, striking out none and walking six. Gavin Franks took the loss for Mishawaka Junior Varsity Cavemen. The pitcher went two innings, allowing eight runs (five earned) on eight hits, striking out two and walking one. Liam Hacker and Alex Demaegd each collected two hits for Mishawaka Junior Varsity Cavemen. Jackson Chlebek and Demaegd each drove in two runs for Mishawaka Junior Varsity Cavemen. Demaegd stole two bases. Mishawaka Junior Varsity Cavemen had a strong eye at the plate, accumulating six walks for the game. Northridge Junior Varsity Raiders amassed 12 hits in the game. Nusbaum drove the middle of the lineup, leading Northridge Junior Varsity Raiders with three runs batted in. The number three hitter went 2-for-4 on the day. Nusbaum, Hauser, Eash, and Lehman each collected two hits for Northridge Junior Varsity Raiders. Northridge Junior Varsity Raiders had patience at the plate, amassing eight walks for the game. Garman and Pointon led the team with two free passes each. Garman, Kees, Eash, and Gorball each stole multiple bases for Northridge Junior Varsity Raiders. Northridge Junior Varsity Raiders ran wild on the base paths, tallying nine stolen bases for the game.
