Demaegd Has Lots Of Hits But Mishawaka Junior Varsity Cavemen Fall To Elkhart Lions JV

By GameChanger Media Alex Demaegd collected three hits in four at bats, but Mishawaka Junior Varsity Cavemen lost to Elkhart Lions JV 10-7 on Saturday at Mishawaka High School Ward Baker Park. Alex Demaegd doubled in the fourth inning, doubled in the sixth inning, and singled in the third inning. Mishawaka Junior Varsity Cavemen got on the board in the bottom of the second inning after Liam Hacker hit a sacrifice fly, and Chase Semak lined out, each scoring one run. Elkhart Lions JV jumped into the lead in the top of the third when AJ Karbalaeali doubled, scoring two runs, Jaxon Harrison singled, scoring one run, and David Perez singled, scoring one run. Mishawaka Junior Varsity Cavemen jumped into the lead in the bottom of the fourth when Liam Hacker singled, scoring one run, a passed ball scored one run, and Alex Demaegd doubled, scoring two runs. Elkhart Lions JV flipped the game on its head in the top of the fifth, scoring six runs on four hits to take the lead, 10-7. The biggest blow in the inning was a single by Logan Kelly that drove in two. Adam Grolich earned the win for Elkhart Lions JV. The reliever allowed one hit and zero runs over three and two-thirds innings, striking out six and walking three. Jack Taylor took the loss for Mishawaka Junior Varsity Cavemen. The reliever went two innings, surrendering six runs on five hits, striking out one and walking three. Cayson Meyer stepped on the mound first for Mishawaka Junior Varsity Cavemen. The starting pitcher gave up eight hits and four runs over four innings, striking out two and walking two. Jaxon Harrison started on the mound for Elkhart Lions JV. The right-handed pitcher surrendered five hits and seven runs (three earned) over three and one-third innings, striking out five and walking four. Tommy Hoover led Mishawaka Junior Varsity Cavemen with three walks. Overall, the team had a strong eye at the plate, collecting seven walks for the game. Alex Demaegd stole two bases. Elkhart Lions JV accumulated 13 hits in the game. Leadoff hitter Logan Kelly led Elkhart Lions JV with three hits in five at bats.
