Strong Hitting Not Enough As Mishawaka Junior Varsity Cavemen Falls To Concord Junior Varsity Minutemen

By GameChanger Media Even though Mishawaka Junior Varsity Cavemen collected nine hits to Concord Junior Varsity Minutemen's four, they still fell 6-5 on Wednesday at Concord High School. Kole Neace and Alex Demaegd each collected two hits for Mishawaka Junior Varsity Cavemen. Mishawaka Junior Varsity Cavemen fought back after falling down by four runs in the first inning. The comeback fell just short though. Mishawaka Junior Varsity Cavemen closed the gap by scoring on a double, a double, a sacrifice bunt, and a single. Concord Junior Varsity Minutemen got on the board in the bottom of the first inning after C Carrington singled, scoring two runs, T Theus grounded out, scoring one run, and Troy Brunswick hit a sacrifice fly, scoring one run. Mishawaka Junior Varsity Cavemen tied the game in the top of the fifth thanks to a double by Corin Shepley, a double by Alex Demaegd, and a sacrifice bunt by Kole Neace. Concord Junior Varsity Minutemen took the lead in the bottom of the fifth. Troy Brunswick hit a sacrifice fly, scoring one run, to give Concord Junior Varsity Minutemen the upper hand, 5-4. Cayson Meyer singled to left field, which helped Mishawaka Junior Varsity Cavemen tie the game at five in the top of the seventh. Justin Brunswick earned the win for Concord Junior Varsity Minutemen. The pitcher surrendered one hit and zero runs over two-thirds of an inning, striking out none and walking one. Gavin Franks took the loss for Mishawaka Junior Varsity Cavemen. The starting pitcher went six innings, allowing six runs (four earned) on four hits, striking out five and walking five. J Hauser opened the game for Concord Junior Varsity Minutemen. The starting pitcher allowed six hits and four runs (three earned) over four innings, striking out three and walking none. Mishawaka Junior Varsity Cavemen accumulated nine hits in the game. Corin Shepley, the number nine hitter for Mishawaka Junior Varsity Cavemen, led the way with two runs batted in. The outfielder went 1-for-3 on the day. C Carrington went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead Concord Junior Varsity Minutemen in hits. Troy Brunswick and C Carrington each drove in two runs for Concord Junior Varsity Minutemen.
