Mishawaka Junior Varsity Cavemen Storm Back To Defeat Goshen Junior Varsity Redhawks

By GameChanger Media Despite trailing by as many as four runs, Mishawaka Junior Varsity Cavemen rallied to best Goshen Junior Varsity Redhawks 7-6 on Monday at Mishawaka High School Ward Baker Park. The bottom of the lineup was strong for Mishawaka Junior Varsity Cavemen. Corin Shepley, Chase Semak, and Tommy Hoover combined for five of the team's nine hits in their victory. They scored two runs and drove in three. A single by Andrew Toney put Mishawaka Junior Varsity Cavemen on the board in the top of the first. Goshen Junior Varsity Redhawks took the lead in the bottom of the first inning after Sade Yoder singled down the right field line, Brycen Eaton doubled down the left field line, and Aaron DeMott hit a sacrifice fly, each scoring one run. Goshen Junior Varsity Redhawks added to their early lead in the bottom of the second inning after Manny Pizana singled to center field, and Mishawaka Junior Varsity Cavemen committed an error, each scoring one run. Mishawaka Junior Varsity Cavemen flipped the game on its head in the top of the fourth, scoring six runs on six hits to take the lead, 7-5. The biggest blow in the inning was a single by Chase Semak that drove in two. Cayson Meyer earned the win for Mishawaka Junior Varsity Cavemen. The hurler gave up four hits and one run over two innings, striking out none and walking one. Manny Pizana took the loss for Goshen Junior Varsity Redhawks. The pitcher went one-third of an inning, surrendering three runs on one hit, striking out one and walking one. Andrew Toney led things off on the mound for Mishawaka Junior Varsity Cavemen. The right-handed pitcher gave up three hits and five runs (three earned) over two innings, striking out none and walking four. Aaron DeMott led things off on the hill for Goshen Junior Varsity Redhawks. The starter allowed six hits and four runs (three earned) over three innings, striking out three and walking three. Mishawaka Junior Varsity Cavemen accumulated nine hits in the game. Chase Semak, the number eight hitter for Mishawaka Junior Varsity Cavemen, led the way with two runs batted in. The outfielder went 3-for-3 on the day. Alex Demaegd collected two hits for Mishawaka Junior Varsity Cavemen in two at bats. Alex Demaegd stole four bases. Mishawaka Junior Varsity Cavemen ran wild on the base paths, amassing five stolen bases for the game. Deivis Freitez, Aaron DeMott, Sade Yoder, Brycen Eaton, and Manny Pizana each drove in one run for Goshen Junior Varsity Redhawks. Brycen Eaton went 2-for-2 at the plate to lead Goshen Junior Varsity Redhawks in hits. Sade Yoder stole two bases. Goshen Junior Varsity Redhawks ran wild on the base paths, collecting four stolen bases for the game.
