By GameChanger Media Monday's game against Goshen Junior Varsity Redhawks was a heartbreaker for Mishawaka Junior Varsity Cavemen, as they lost the lead late in a 4-3 defeat at Mishawaka High School Ward Baker Park. The game was tied at three in the top of the fifth when a steal of home scored one run. Goshen Junior Varsity Redhawks opened the scoring in the top of the first thanks to two singles. Goshen Junior Varsity Redhawks first got on the board when Sade Yoder singled, scoring one run. A wild pitch gave Mishawaka Junior Varsity Cavemen the lead, 3-2, in the bottom of the fourth. In the top of the fifth inning, Goshen Junior Varsity Redhawks went back into the lead after Mishawaka Junior Varsity Cavemen committed an error, and Deivis Freitez stole home, each scoring one run. Lucas Kroening earned the win for Goshen Junior Varsity Redhawks. The pitcher gave up four hits and three runs over five innings, striking out six and walking none. Kole Neace took the loss for Mishawaka Junior Varsity Cavemen. The hurler went five innings, allowing four runs (two earned) on six hits, striking out three and walking three. Jack Taylor led Mishawaka Junior Varsity Cavemen with one run batted in. The right-handed hitter went 1-for-1 on the day. Cayson Meyer led Mishawaka Junior Varsity Cavemen with two hits in two at bats. Sade Yoder and Brycen Eaton each drove in one run for Goshen Junior Varsity Redhawks. Deivis Freitez went 2-for-2 at the plate to lead Goshen Junior Varsity Redhawks in hits. Goshen Junior Varsity Redhawks stole four bases in the game.
