By GameChanger Media South Bend Saint Joesph Freshman scored 13 runs in the second inning, which helped them defeat Mishawaka Freshman Cavemen 17-7 on Monday at St. Joe High School Northfield Athletic Complex. Mishawaka Freshman Cavemen got on the board in the top of the second inning after Liam Summers singled to center field, Dominic Fazio singled to the right side of the infield, and South Bend Saint Joesph Freshman dropped a third strike, each scoring one run. South Bend Saint Joesph Freshman flipped the game on its head in the bottom of the second, scoring 13 runs on seven hits to take the lead, 13-3. The biggest blow in the inning was a single by Rohrscheib that drove in two. Rohrscheib earned the win for South Bend Saint Joesph Freshman. The pitcher allowed four hits and four runs (three earned) over one inning, striking out none and walking none. Noah Valdez pitched three innings in relief for Mishawaka Freshman Cavemen. The hurler allowed six hits and six runs while, striking out three and walking two. Gaeton Groninger took the loss for Mishawaka Freshman Cavemen. The starting pitcher went one and one-third innings, allowing 11 runs on five hits, striking out one and walking five. Turcotte began the game for South Bend Saint Joesph Freshman. The starter surrendered three hits and three runs over four innings, striking out five and walking four. Dominic Fazio, the number nine hitter for Mishawaka Freshman Cavemen, led the way with three runs batted in. The catcher went 2-for-3 on the day. Carmello Joiner and Dominic Fazio each collected two hits for Mishawaka Freshman Cavemen. Mishawaka Freshman Cavemen were sure-handed in the field and didn't commit a single error. Carmello Joiner had the most chances in the field with five. South Bend Saint Joesph Freshman accumulated 12 hits in the game. Rohrscheib led South Bend Saint Joesph Freshman with four hits in four at bats. Banks collected two hits for South Bend Saint Joesph Freshman in two at bats. Lopez led South Bend Saint Joesph Freshman with three walks. Overall, the team had a strong eye at the plate, collecting eight walks for the game.
