By GameChanger Media It came down to the wire on Saturday at Mishawaka High School Ward Baker Park, as Mishawaka Freshman Cavemen grabbed the victory in walk-off fashion, 2-1, over South Bend Adams Freshman Eagles. The game was tied at one in the bottom of the sixth when Abel Marte hit a sacrifice fly, scoring one run. The pitching was strong on both sides. Mishawaka Freshman Cavemen pitchers struck out three, while South Bend Adams Freshman Eagles sat down 10. A single by Noah Valdez following a 6-pitch at-bat put Mishawaka Freshman Cavemen on the board in the bottom of the third. Grigsby Loyd grounded out, which helped South Bend Adams Freshman Eagles tie the game at one in the top of the fifth. Nolan Kuhnle earned the win for Mishawaka Freshman Cavemen. The starter gave up three hits and one run (zero earned) over six innings, striking out three and walking none. Jeffrey Seitz took the loss for South Bend Adams Freshman Eagles. The hurler went five innings, surrendering two runs (zero earned) on three hits, striking out 10 and walking four. Noah Valdez, Dominic Fazio, and Evan Dodd each collected one hit for Mishawaka Freshman Cavemen. Noah Valdez and Abel Marte each drove in one run for Mishawaka Freshman Cavemen. Mishawaka Freshman Cavemen were sure-handed and didn't commit a single error. Abel Marte made the most plays with 10.
