Mishawaka Junior Varsity Cavemen Walk-Off In Nail-Biter Against Plymouth Junior Varsity Pilgrims

By GameChanger Media Mishawaka Junior Varsity Cavemen took Wednesday's game in dramatic fashion, with a 6-5 walk-off victory over Plymouth Junior Varsity Pilgrims at Mishawaka High School Ward Baker Park. Mishawaka Junior Varsity Cavemen were down 5-4 in the bottom of the seventh inning when Jackson Chlebek singled, scoring two runs. Plymouth Junior Varsity Pilgrims opened the scoring in the first after Owen Walleske drew a walk, scoring one run. Xavier Mercado walked, which helped Mishawaka Junior Varsity Cavemen tie the game at one in the bottom of the first. In the top of the fifth inning, Plymouth Junior Varsity Pilgrims went back into the lead after Owen Walleske singled to left field, Tucker Sarver walked, and Grayson Terrone hit a sacrifice fly, each scoring one run. Mishawaka Junior Varsity Cavemen tied the game in the bottom of the fifth thanks to an error, a sacrifice fly by Kole Neace, and a walk by Jackson Chlebek. Plymouth Junior Varsity Pilgrims took the lead in the top of the sixth. Zach Atkins hit into a double play, but one run scored, to give Plymouth Junior Varsity Pilgrims the advantage, 5-4. Cayson Meyer earned the win for Mishawaka Junior Varsity Cavemen. The starter allowed eight hits and five runs over seven innings, striking out three and walking four. Zach Atkins took the loss for Plymouth Junior Varsity Pilgrims. The hurler went two innings, giving up two runs (zero earned) on two hits, striking out three and walking none. Grayson Terrone led things off on the hill for Plymouth Junior Varsity Pilgrims. The pitcher gave up zero hits and four runs (one earned) over four and two-thirds innings, striking out nine and walking eight.
