By GameChanger Media Jack Taylor struck out 13 batters as the hurler led Mishawaka Junior Varsity Cavemen past Wawasee 10-2 on Wednesday at Wawasee High School. Jack Taylor surrendered four hits and two runs over seven innings while walking two. A double by Jack Taylor on the tenth pitch of the at-bat put Mishawaka Junior Varsity Cavemen on the board in the top of the first. Beer singled down the right field line on an 0-2 count, which helped Wawasee tie the game at two in the bottom of the first. A ground out by Corin Shepley gave Mishawaka Junior Varsity Cavemen the lead, 3-2, in the top of the second. Mishawaka Junior Varsity Cavemen extended their early lead with three runs in the top of the third thanks to RBI errors by Jack Taylor and Chase Semak. Beer took the loss for Wawasee. The starting pitcher went three innings, allowing six runs (two earned) on two hits, striking out four and walking four. Jack Taylor provided pop in the middle of the lineup, and led Mishawaka Junior Varsity Cavemen with four runs batted in. The right-handed hitter went 1-for-4 on the day. Kole Neace led Mishawaka Junior Varsity Cavemen with two hits in three at bats. Mishawaka Junior Varsity Cavemen had patience at the plate, collecting seven walks for the game. Gavin Franks, Chase Semak, and Tommy Hoover led the team with two walks each. Gavin Franks, Aiden Rogers, Chase Semak, and Tommy Hoover each stole multiple bases for Mishawaka Junior Varsity Cavemen. Mishawaka Junior Varsity Cavemen ran wild on the base paths, accumulating 12 stolen bases for the game. Beer drove the middle of the lineup, leading Wawasee with two runs batted in. The cleanup hitter went 1-for-3 on the day. Ruff went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead Wawasee in hits. Wawasee turned one double play in the game.
