By GameChanger Media Shawn Nowacki hit two home runs and drove in five as Mishawaka Varsity Cavemen defeated Westview Warriors Varsity ‘25 12-1 on Saturday at Westview Junior-Sr High School. Nowacki homered in the seventh and third innings. Mishawaka Varsity Cavemen got on the board in the top of the third inning after Nowacki homered to left field, and Kamdon Putz doubled down the left field line, each scoring one run. Mishawaka Varsity Cavemen added four more runs in the top of the seventh inning on four hits. Nowacki homered to center field, scoring two runs, Putz doubled, scoring one run, and Drew Ginter grounded out, scoring one run. Ginter started the game for Mishawaka Varsity Cavemen. The pitcher allowed five hits and one run over six and two-thirds innings, striking out nine and walking two. Elijah Zolman stepped on the hill first for Westview Warriors Varsity ‘25. The starter allowed four hits and two runs over three innings, striking out five and walking two. Mishawaka Varsity Cavemen piled up 13 hits in the game. Izaiah Bute went 3-for-3 at the plate to lead Mishawaka Varsity Cavemen in hits. Putz and Braedyn Smith each collected multiple hits for Mishawaka Varsity Cavemen. Ginter led Mishawaka Varsity Cavemen with two walks. Overall, the team had a strong eye at the plate, collecting eight walks for the game. Ginter stole two bases. Mishawaka Varsity Cavemen stole six bases in the game. Mishawaka Varsity Cavemen turned one double play in the game. Mishawaka Varsity Cavemen were sure-handed in the field and didn't commit a single error. Putz had the most chances in the field with eight. Jaxon Engle led Westview Warriors Varsity ‘25 with one run batted in. The catcher went 1-for-3 on the day. Jack Massey went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead Westview Warriors Varsity ‘25 in hits.
