By GameChanger Media Mishawaka Varsity Cavemen were triumphant over Jimtown 8-5 on Tuesday at Jimtown High School. Jimtown got on the board in the bottom of the first inning after Broderic Kaler tripled to center field, and Mason Armstrong doubled down the right field line, each scoring one run. Shawn Nowacki doubled to center field, which helped Mishawaka Varsity Cavemen tie the game at two in the top of the third. Mishawaka Varsity Cavemen captured the lead, 4-2, in the top of the fourth after Kamdon Putz homered to left field, and Jayden Pyle doubled to right field, each scoring one run. Jimtown jumped back into the lead in the bottom of the fifth inning after Dalton Cook singled to center field, Ty Zartman grounded out, and Armstrong singled down the right field line, each scoring one run. Mishawaka Varsity Cavemen captured the lead, 8-5, in the top of the seventh when Will Hartzke singled, scoring two runs, Braedyn Smith drew a walk, scoring one run, and Brady Hoopingarner drew a walk, scoring one run. Landon Johns earned the win for Mishawaka Varsity Cavemen. The hurler gave up one hit and zero runs over two innings, striking out two and walking two. Kaler took the loss for Jimtown. The hurler went two and two-thirds innings, surrendering four runs on one hit, striking out three and walking six. Colton Handley led things off on the bump for Mishawaka Varsity Cavemen. The hurler allowed 11 hits and five runs over five innings, striking out five and walking one. Armstrong started on the mound for Jimtown. The starting pitcher allowed three hits and four runs (three earned) over four innings, striking out five and walking two. Hartzke, Nowacki, Putz, and Pyle each collected one hit for Mishawaka Varsity Cavemen. Hartzke and Nowacki each drove in two runs for Mishawaka Varsity Cavemen. Smith paced Mishawaka Varsity Cavemen with three walks. Overall, the team had patience at the plate, amassing eight walks for the game. Jimtown tallied 12 hits in the game. Armstrong provided pop in the middle of the lineup, and led Jimtown with two runs batted in. The pitcher went 3-for-4 on the day. Cook and Armstrong each collected three hits for Jimtown.
