Junior Varsity vs Plymouth High School The JV girls soccer team traveled to Plymouth High School this past Saturday afternoon for an NLC matchup. Three things have been constant this season for the JV Lady Cavemen, heat, a shallow bench, and their unwillingness to quit. Mishawaka fell behind midway through the first half as Plymouth managed to sneak a shot past the defensive on an open backside goal. Trailing 1-0 to start the second half, the Lady Cavemen started to develop some pressure on the Plymouth defense with Ciara Foley and Alex Matute-Castillo getting two shots on goal. After three yellow cards and one red card on some questionable calls, Mishawaka had one last chance to tie the game on a free kick from about 30 yards out with less than 10 minutes remaining. Elyse Taber lined up for the free kick and placed the ball perfectly towards the far upper corner of the goal where it missed by inches. Plymouth was able to maintain control of the final few minutes of the game for a 1-0 victory of the Cavemen. Goalkeeper Laya Almahdawi continued to play well recording eight saves to keep her team in the game.
