Cavemen win a thriller in the season finale over St. Joe

SAINT JOSEPHS HIGH SCHOOL - SOUTH BEND VS MISHAWAKA HIGH SCHOOL 55 57 Team 1 2 3 4 Saint Josephs High School - South Bend 11 13 15 16 Mishawaka High School 13 16 19 9 On Friday, February 23, the Cavemen took on a tough St. Joe team that came in on a little bit of a roll winning their last 3 in a row. After one the Cavemen took a 2 point lead 13-11. At the half Mishawaka extended their lead to 5 with a 29-24 lead at intermission. Mishawaka had done a great job of handling the Saint Joe full court pressure for most of the night. The Cavemen found an extended lead at 9 after a Rasauun Johnson dunk to end the 3rd quarter with a 48-39 advantage. But, in the 4th quarter Saint Joe turned up the pressure and capturing the lead with 56 seconds to go after a big Jayce Lee breakaway dunk. But, the Cavemen would find a way with 5 seconds to go and Trey Thomas getting a handoff in the corner from Brady Fisher and drilling a 3 to help Mishawaka to a 57-55 victory. The Cavemen were led by Trey Thomas’ 15 points, Cooper Pritchett chipped in with 14 and Brady Fisher added 9. Mishawaka will be back in action Tuesday night in the first round of the Sectional, at 6 PM, when they host LaPorte! By Bodie Bender on Feb 28, 2024
