Mishawaka Varsity Beats Jimtown 5-4 In Season Opener

The Cavemen got on the board in the first inning after Cooper Pritchett singled, scoring one run. Jimtown captured the lead, 2-1, in the top of the second after McAllister singled, and Arbogast grounded out, each scoring one run. In the bottom of the third inning, the Cavemen went back into the lead after Pritchett doubled, and Kamdon Putz singled, each scoring one run. Brady Gallo earned the win for the Cavemen. The starting pitcher gave up six hits and four runs over six innings, striking out seven and walking two. Cook took the loss for Jimtown. He went six innings, surrendering five runs (four earned) on 10 hits, striking out six and walking one. Trey DeBroka collected the save. The Cavemen accumulated 10 hits in the game. Pritchett drove the middle of the lineup, leading the Cavemen with two runs batted in. The 3-hole hitter went 2-for-3 on the day. Putz, Shawn Nowacki, Pritchett, and Izaiah Bute each collected two hits for the Cavemen. The team stole four bases in the game. Arbogast, the number eight hitter for Jimtown, led the way with two runs batted in. Aiden Carithers set the tone at the top of the lineup, leading Jimtown with three hits in four at bats. McAllister and Dutton each collected multiple hits for Jimtown. The Cavemen will travel to South Bend Adams for their next game on Wednesday. The game will be played at School Field.
