Strong Hitting Not Enough As Mishawaka JV Baseball Falls to Marian

Drew Ginter, Noah Deeds, and Kole Neace each collected two hits for the Cavemen. Marian got on the board in the bottom of the first inning with RBIs by Ryne O’Hara, Jack Nunley, Jake Van Bruaene, and Bryce Maloney. They also scored two unearned runs. The Cavemen scored five runs on five hits in the top of the second inning. Alex Dermody single, scoring one run, Deeds singled in one run, Ginter singled, scoring two runs, and Neace drove the other run in with a single. In the top of the fourth, Mishawaka took the lead after Deeds, Neace, and Jack Taylor each drove in a run. The Knights recaptured the lead, 11-10, in the bottom of the sixth when Silas Johnson hit into a fielder’s choice, but one run scored, and Gill singled, scoring two runs. Cade Briones earned the win for Marian. The left-handed pitcher surrendered zero hits and zero runs over two innings, striking out four and walking one. Colten Handley pitched four innings in relief for Mishawaka. He allowed four hits and one run while striking out six and walking three. Ginter took the loss for Mishawaka.
