The Cavemen opened the scoring in the first after Will Hartzke hit a sacrifice fly, scoring one run. Plymouth took the lead, 2-1, in th top of the second thanks to two walks. Tyler Thomas singled, which helped the Cavemen tie the gamee at two in the bottom of the fourth. A single by Ethan Hall gave Plymouth the lead, 3-2, in the top of the fourth. The Cavemen captured the lead, 5-3, in the bottom of the fifth after Cooper Pritchett doubled, Plymouth committed and error, and Izaiah Bute grounded out, each scoring one run. Trey DeBroka (1-0) earned the win for the Cavemen. He allowed four hits and three runs over six innings, striking out eight and walking six. Preston Wolfe (1-2) took the loss for Plymouth. He went six innings, allowing six runs (four earned) on nine hits, striking out four and walking two. Alex Boehman collected the save. The Cavemen piled up nine hits in the game. Shawn Nowacki set the tone at the top of the lineup, leading the Cavemen with three hits in three at bats. DeBroka, Hartzke, Thomas, and Pritchett each drove in one run for the Cavemen. Gage Spychalski and Pritchett each stole multiple bases for the Cavemen. The Cavemen ran wild on the base paths, collecting eight stolen bases for the game. The Cavemen were sure-handed in the field and didn’t commit a single error. Kamdon Putz had the most chances in the field with 10. Wolfe, Kaden Milliser, Hall, Caleb Browning, and Trey Jordan each collected one hit for Plymouth. Wolfe, Hall, and Browning each drove in one run for Plymouth. Browning led Plymouth with two walks. Overall, the team had a strong eye at the plate, amassing six walks for the game. The Cavemen welcome the Wawasee Warriors on Wednesday at home for their next game starting at 5:30.
