Mishawaka Varsity Cavemen Hold Off Wawasee For Victory 6-5

Wawasee closed the gap by scoring on a solo home run, a sacrifice fly, a walk, and a walk. The Cavemen got on the board in the bottom of the third inning after Trey DeBroka singled, scoring one run, and Will Hartzke tripled, scoring two runs. Landon Johns (1-0) earned the win for Mishawaka. The starting pitcher allowed three hits and one run over five innings, striking out three and walking four. Ty Brooks (1-1) who is committed to play at Indiana State took the loss for Wawasee. The starting pitcher went five innings, allowing five runs on three hits, striking out eight and walking five. Drew Ginter collected his first varsity save. DeBroka led the Cavemen with two hits in three at bats. Cooper Pritchett led the Cavemen with three walks. Overall, the team had a strong eye at the plate. The Cavemen turned two double plays in the game. Logen Kessler, Reed Reidenbach and Ryan Menzie each drove in one run for Wawasee. Reidenbach went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead the Warriors in hits. Dane Cripe paced Wawaee with three walks. Overall, the team had patience at the plate, tallying 10 walks for the game.
