Cavemen Take Lead and Never Look Back In Win Over Goshen 13-5

The Cavemen got on the board in the top of the first inning after Cooper Pritchett drew a walk, scoring one run, Will Hartzke singled, scoring two runs, and Kamdon Putz grounded out, scoring two runs. The Cavemen added on run in the second after Pritchett doubled. The Cavemen added to their early lead in the top of the third inning after Izaiah Bute laid down a sacrifice bunt, and Brayden Freitag singled, each scoring a run. Brady Gallo (3-0) earne the win for the Cavemen. The starting pitcher gave up six hits and five runs (three earned) over seven innings, striking out seven and walking two. Caelan Miller (1-2) took the loss for Goshen. The starting pitcher went two innings, allowing eight runs (six earned) on six hits, striking out one and walking four. The Cavemen tallied 14 hits in the game. Hartzke provided pop in the middle of the lineup, and led the Cavemen with three runs batted in. He went 2-for-4 on the day. Trey DeBroka led the Cavemen with three hits in four at bats. Shawn Nowacki, Gage Spychalski, and Pritchett each collected mulitple hits for the Cavemen. Nowacki led the Cavemen with two walks. Overall, the team had a strong eye at the plate, accumulating six walks for the game. DeBroka, Nowacki, and Spychalski each stole multiple bases for the Cavemen. The Cavemen ran wild on the the base paths, piling up nine stolen bases for the game. Kaden Witty sized on their opportunities, leading Goshen with three runs batted in from the number eight spot in the lineup. He went 1-for-3 on the day. Number nine hitter, Damian Castillo, showed the depth of Goshen’s lineup, by leading the team with three hits in four at bats.
