Mishawaka JV Falls To Northwood JV Despite Strong Effort From Mikaela Mercado

Mercado hit a solo homerun to center field in the first inning, singled in the third, doubled in the sixth inning, and singled in the fifth inning. Mishawaka lost despite out-hitting Northwood 14 to 10. Mercado led Mishawaka with four hits. Mishawaka got on the board in the top of the first inning after Mishawaka scored on a passed ball, and Mercado homered to center field, each scoring one run. Mishawaka added two runs in the third. Mercado singled, making the score 4-1. Northwood flipped the game on its head in the bottom of the fourth, scoring six runs on five hits to take a 9-4 lead. The biggest blow in the inning was a single by Ella Hasley that drove in two. Lydia Paul earned the win for Northwood. They gave up 14 hits in the game. Alexa Davis and Leah Pierson each collected multiple hits. Pierson stole two bases. The Cavemen stole 5 bases in the game. Mishawaka turned one double play. Northwood tallied 10 hits in the game. Halsey provided pop in the middle of the lineup, and led Northwood with four runs batted in. They went 2-for-4 on the day. Halsey and Alexa Anglemyer each collected two hits for Northwood.
