Varsity Cavemen With Tough Game Against Niles Vikings

The Vikings got on the board in the bottom of the first inning after Brenden Olsen doubled, scoring two runs, Braylon Schultz singled, scoring one run, and an error scored two runs. The Vikings added two runs in the second. Schultz doubled, making the score 7-0. Logan Olsen earned the win for the Vikings. The starting pitcher gave up four hits and one run over three and one-third innings, striking out three and walking three. Drew Ginter (0-2) took the loss for the Cavemen. The starting pitcher went four and two-thirds innings, surrendering 11 runs (five earned) on nine hits, striking out three and walking two. Izaiah Bute led the Cavemen with one run batted in. Will Hartzke, Shawn Nowacki, Alex Boehman, Cooper Pritchett, and Ginter each collected one hit for the Cavemen. The Vikings tallied nine hits in the game. Schultz, Olsen, and Alex Cole each collected two hits for the Vikings. Schultz led with three runs batted in. He went 2-for-2 on the day. Schultz tole two bases. The Vikings turned two double plays in the game. The Vikings were sure-handed in the field and didn’t commit a single error. Carson Rachels had the most chances in the field with five.
