Mishawaka Varsity Cavemen Triumphs Over Crown Point Bulldogs Varsity In Late Game Victory

The game was tied at two in the top of the seventh when Trey DeBroka singled, scoring one run. Both teams were strong on the hill. Mishawaka Varsity Cavemen pitchers struck out four, while Crown Point Bulldogs Varsity sat down 10. Crown Point Bulldogs Varsity were the first to get on the board in the first when Logan Cotton singled, scoring one run. Shawn Nowacki singled, which helped Mishawaka Varsity Cavemen tie the game at one in the top of the fifth. Crown Point Bulldogs Varsity took the lead in the bottom of the fifth. An error scored one run, to give Crown Point Bulldogs Varsity the advantage, 2-1. In the top of the seventh inning, Mishawaka Varsity Cavemen went back into the lead after Brayden Freitag doubled, and DeBroka singled, each scoring one run. Drew Ginter (1-2) earned the win for Mishawaka Varsity Cavemen. The starting pitcher allowed four hits and two runs (one earned) over six innings, striking out three and walking four. Jackson Fronek took the loss for Crown Point Bulldogs Varsity. They went two-thirds of an inning, allowing zero runs on one hit, striking out one and walking one. Cotton started on the mound for Crown Point Bulldogs Varsity. They allowed one hit and zero runs over one inning, striking out one and walking none. Alex Boehman collected the save. Kamdon Putz, DeBroka, Freitag, Nowacki, Braedyn Smith, Cooper Pritchett, and Will Hartzke each collected one hit for Mishawaka Varsity Cavemen. DeBroka, Freitag, and Nowacki each drove in one run for Mishawaka Varsity Cavemen. Cotton went 1-for-4 at the plate as the cleanup hitter led the team with one run batted in. Austin Leeming, Jase Horton, Cotton, and Aslyn Farinelli each collected one hit for Crown Point Bulldogs Varsity.
