MHS plated five first inning runs to give starting pitcher Lilly St Clair plenty of support. St Clair would throw 4-innings, allowing only 1 hit and one unearned run. Grace Matherly made her Varsity pitching debut, throwing a scoreless fifth inning as the Lady Cavemen won their 14 game in a row. Offensively, Mishawaka pounded out 13 hits as a team. They iced the game away with a 9-run top of the fifth. Brynn Lewinski led the way with 2 doubles, 2-RBI’s and 3 runs scored. Fellow senior Lilly Hanback was 2 for 3 at the plate with a single, a triple and a pair of runs and RBI’s. St Clair and Karmen Frazier each added 2-hits. With the win, the Lady Cavemen record improves to 17-4 overall, 9-0 in the NLC. Next action for MHS is Tuesday, a key NLC home date versus Wawasee. The game will resume in the bottom of the first inning after being suspended due to lightening May 2. Action at Baker Park is scheduled to start at 5:30pm. By Brian Miller on May 7, 2024
