Mishawaka Varsity Cavemen were the first to get on the board in the first when Cooper Pritchett grounded out, scoring one run. Elkhart took the lead, 3-1, in the bottom of the second thanks to three walks. Elkhart added one run in the third. Greg Guest singled on a 3-0 count, making the score 4-1. Quinn Rost earned the win for Elkhart. The starting pitcher surrendered four hits and one run over seven innings, striking out eight and walking one. Drew Ginter took the loss for Mishawaka Varsity Cavemen. They went six innings, surrendering five runs on six hits, striking out four and walking seven. Pritchett led the team with one run batted in. Kamdon Putz, Tyler Thomas, Shawn Nowacki, and Gage Spychalski each collected one hit for Mishawaka Varsity Cavemen. Carson Pollard, Brennon Whickcar, Rost, Guest, Brodey Weaver, and Max Shreiner each collected one hit for Elkhart. AJ Scott, Guest, Weaver, and Cooper Schoetzow each drove in one run for Elkhart. Elkhart worked the count all day, amassing seven walks. Elkhart turned one double play in the game. Elkhart were sure-handed in the field and didn’t commit a single error.
