Cooper Pritchett’s Big Day Propels Cavemen Past LaPorte for Sectional Championship

Pritchett doubled in the fourth inning, singled in the first inning, singled in the third inning, and singled in the seventh inning. Mishawaka Varsity Cavemen jumped out to the lead in the top of the first inning after Gage Spychalski doubled, scoring two runs, Kamdon Putz singled, scoring one run, and Izaiah Bute hit a sacrifice fly, scoring one run. Mishawaka Varsity Cavemen added to their early lead in the top of the third inning after Bute was struck by a pitch, and Tyler Thomas singled, each scoring one run. Brady Gallo (5-2) earned the win for Mishawaka Varsity Cavemen. The starting pitcher gave up five hits and three runs (two earned) over five innings, striking out four and walking none. CT Rusboldt took the loss for the Slicers. He went one inning, allowing four runs on four hits, striking out none and walking one. Trey DeBroka collected the save. Mishawaka Varsity Cavemen collected 10 hits in the game. Bute and Spychalski each drove in two runs for Mishawaka Varsity Cavemen. Pritchett stole two bases. Ben Dubbs led the slicers with two runs batted in. The second baseman went 1-for-4 on the day. Kai Jones went 2-for-4 at the plate to lead thebSlicers in hits. LaPorte turned three double plays in the game. the Cavemen improved to 15-14 on the year. This is their 4th sectional win in 8 years.
