Mishawaka Junior Varsity Cavemen Fall To Jimtown Despite Strong Effort From Xavier Mercado

May 21, 2026 vs. Jimtown Xavier Mercado collected three hits in four at bats, but Mishawaka Junior Varsity Cavemen lost to Jimtown 17-14 on Thursday at Mishawaka High School Ward Baker Park. Mercado doubled in the fourth inning, doubled in the first inning, and doubled in the sixth inning. Mishawaka Junior Varsity Cavemen lost despite out-hitting Jimtown 14 to 10. Mercado led Mishawaka Junior Varsity Cavemen with three hits. Jimtown got on the board in the top of the first inning after Smith grounded out, scoring one run, an error scored one run, and Hunter doubled, scoring two runs. A line out by Pappas extended the Jimtown lead to 5-0 in the top of the second inning. Pappas singled, scoring one run, an error scored one run, Poole hit a sacrifice fly, scoring one run, Hunter singled, scoring one run, and an error scored two runs. Mishawaka Junior Varsity Cavemen scored five runs on three hits in the bottom of the seventh inning. Jackson Chlebek doubled, scoring two runs, Noah Valdez drew a walk, scoring one run, and an error scored two runs. Pappas earned the win for Jimtown. The pitcher allowed one hit and zero runs over two innings, striking out four and walking two. Ryan Ecker pitched three innings in relief for Mishawaka Junior Varsity Cavemen. The hurler allowed two hits and four runs while, striking out two and walking five. Chlebek took the loss for Mishawaka Junior Varsity Cavemen.
