Strong Hitting Not Enough As Mishawaka Cavemen C-Team Falls To Penn Freshman Kingsmen

May 19, 2026 vs. Penn Freshman Kingsmen Mishawaka Cavemen C-Team fell 9-6 to Penn Freshman Kingsmen on Tuesday at Penn High School despite out-hitting them nine to three. Cochran led Mishawaka Cavemen C-Team with three hits. Penn Freshman Kingsmen opened the scoring in the first after Filley drew a walk, scoring one run. Penn Freshman Kingsmen added to their early lead in the bottom of the second inning after Leibengood walked, and Kubinski grounded out, each scoring one run. In the top of the third inning, Mishawaka Cavemen C-Team went back into the lead after Darnell singled to center field, Forslund walked, Cochran singled down the left field line, and Gramza singled to left field, each scoring one run. Penn Freshman Kingsmen captured the lead, 7-4, in the bottom of the third after Mishawaka Cavemen C-Team committed an error, and Rerick hit a sacrifice fly, each scoring two runs. Montague earned the win for Penn Freshman Kingsmen. The starter gave up nine hits and six runs over five innings, striking out seven and walking two. Summers took the loss for Mishawaka Cavemen C-Team. The hurler went two and one-third innings, allowing six runs (three earned) on one hit, striking out none and walking five. Mishawaka Cavemen C-Team tallied nine hits in the game. Gramza led Mishawaka Cavemen C-Team with three runs batted in from the number eight spot in the lineup. The infielder went 2-for-3 on the day. Darnell collected two hits for Mishawaka Cavemen C-Team in three at bats. McGee drove the middle of the lineup, leading Penn Freshman Kingsmen with two runs batted in. DeVon went 2-for-2 at the plate to lead Penn Freshman Kingsmen in hits. Filley led Penn Freshman Kingsmen with two walks. Overall, the team had a strong eye at the plate, piling up seven walks for the game. McGee and Leibengood each stole multiple bases for Penn Freshman Kingsmen. Penn Freshman Kingsmen ran wild on the base paths, piling up nine stolen bases for the game. Penn Freshman Kingsmen turned one double play in the game.
