Strong Hitting Not Enough As Mishawaka Cavemen C-Team Falls To Elkhart Lions C-Team

May 7, 2026 vs. Elkhart Lions C-Team Mishawaka Cavemen C-Team fell 11-10 to Elkhart Lions C-Team on Thursday at Elkhart High School - West Campus despite out-hitting them seven to four. Huemmer, Fisher, and Cochran each collected two hits for Mishawaka Cavemen C-Team. Mishawaka Cavemen C-Team fought back after falling down by four runs in the fourth inning. The comeback fell just short though. Mishawaka Cavemen C-Team closed the gap by scoring on a hit by pitch and a single. Mishawaka Cavemen C-Team got on the board in the first inning after Davis doubled, scoring two runs. Elkhart Lions C-Team jumped into the lead in the bottom of the third when Young doubled, scoring one run, Reyes doubled, scoring one run, and Sutton was struck by a pitch, driving in a run. Mishawaka Cavemen C-Team captured the lead, 6-4, in the top of the fourth when one run scored on a dropped third strike, Huemmer doubled, scoring two runs, and Fisher singled, scoring one run. Elkhart Lions C-Team flipped the game on its head in the bottom of the fourth, scoring six runs on two hits to take the lead, 10-6. The biggest blow in the inning was a single by Wagner that drove in two. Mishawaka Cavemen C-Team tied the game in the top of the fifth thanks to a hit by a pitch, and a single by Huemmer. Elkhart Lions C-Team took the lead in the bottom of the fifth. A passed ball scored one run, to give Elkhart Lions C-Team the leg up, 11-10. Contreras earned the win for Elkhart Lions C-Team. The right-handed pitcher gave up one hit and zero runs over one and two-thirds innings, striking out two and walking none. Joiner took the loss for Mishawaka Cavemen C-Team. The righty went two and two-thirds innings, giving up three runs (zero earned) on zero hits, striking out five and walking two. Delgado stepped on the hill first for Mishawaka Cavemen C-Team. The starter surrendered four hits and eight runs over three and one-third innings, striking out seven and walking four. McGhan stepped on the hill first for Elkhart Lions C-Team. The starter allowed three hits and two runs (zero earned) over three innings, striking out five and walking none. Huemmer, the number nine hitter for Mishawaka Cavemen C-Team, led the way with three runs batted in. The right-handed hitter went 2-for-4 on the day. Huemmer, Forslund, and Cochran each stole multiple bases for Mishawaka Cavemen C-Team. Mishawaka Cavemen C-Team had a strong eye at the plate, piling up six walks for the game. Mishawaka Cavemen C-Team stole 13 bases in the game. Wagner drove the middle of the lineup, leading Elkhart Lions C-Team with two runs batted in. The right-handed hitter went 1-for-3 on the day. Young led Elkhart Lions C-Team with two hits in three at bats. Elkhart Lions C-Team had a strong eye at the plate, collecting six walks for the game.
