Mishawaka Cavemen C-Team Fall To Penn Freshman Kingsmen Despite Strong Effort From Davis

April 30, 2026 vs. Penn Freshman Kingsmen Davis collected three hits in four at bats, but Mishawaka Cavemen C-Team lost to Penn Freshman Kingsmen 18-8 on Thursday at Penn High School. Davis singled in the first inning, singled in the second inning, and singled in the fourth inning. Penn Freshman Kingsmen rallied for the victory despite trailing 5-0 in the second. Mishawaka Cavemen C-Team opened the scoring in the top of the first thanks to two singles. Mishawaka Cavemen C-Team first got on the board when Fazio singled, scoring two runs. Mishawaka Cavemen C-Team extended their early lead with two runs in the top of the second thanks to RBI singles by Fazio and Davis. Penn Freshman Kingsmen captured the lead, 6-5, in the bottom of the third after McGee doubled to center field, and Mishawaka Cavemen C-Team committed an error, each scoring one run. A single by Huemmer gave Mishawaka Cavemen C-Team the lead, 7-6, in the top of the fourth. Penn Freshman Kingsmen jumped back into the lead in the bottom of the fourth inning after Garcia walked, and Hartford doubled down the left field line, each scoring one run. Fazio singled to center field, which helped Mishawaka Cavemen C-Team tie the game at eight in the top of the fifth. In the bottom of the fifth inning, Penn Freshman Kingsmen went back into the lead after Rerick doubled to center field, Garcia walked, Hartford was struck by a pitch, Filley singled to center field, DeVon walked, McGee walked, Mumaw walked, Rerick walked, and Garcia singled to left field, each scoring one run. Rerick earned the win for Penn Freshman Kingsmen. The pitcher gave up eight hits and four runs (two earned) over four innings, striking out six and walking two. Fazio took the loss for Mishawaka Cavemen C-Team. The righty went one inning, giving up eight runs on three hits, striking out none and walking three. Cochran stepped on the mound first for Mishawaka Cavemen C-Team. The pitcher surrendered nine hits and eight runs (seven earned) over three innings, striking out two and walking two. Leibengood began the game for Penn Freshman Kingsmen. The hurler allowed four hits and four runs over one inning, striking out three and walking two. Mishawaka Cavemen C-Team tallied 12 hits in the game. Davis and Fazio were a force together in the lineup, as they each collected three hits for Mishawaka Cavemen C-Team. Fazio provided pop in the middle of the lineup, and led Mishawaka Cavemen C-Team with four runs batted in. The right-handed hitter went 3-for-4 on the day. Huemmer and Cochran each collected multiple hits for Mishawaka Cavemen C-Team. Penn Freshman Kingsmen piled up 13 hits in the game. Garcia led Penn Freshman Kingsmen with four runs batted in. The right-handed hitter went 3-for-3 on the day. DeVon, McGee, and Mumaw each collected multiple hits for Penn Freshman Kingsmen. Penn Freshman Kingsmen had patience at the plate, piling up eight walks for the game. Rerick and Garcia led the team with two free passes each. Mumaw stole two bases.
