Mishawaka Varsity Cavemen Cannot Hold Onto Lead Versus Niles April 25, 2026 vs. Niles Mishawaka Varsity Cavemen could not hold onto the lead against Niles on Saturday at Niles High School and fell 8-7 despite leading by six at one point. Mishawaka Varsity Cavemen was right in it until Niles scored on a wild pitch in the sixth inning. Mishawaka Varsity Cavemen were the first to get on the board in the second when Francis singled, scoring one run. Mishawaka Varsity Cavemen added two runs in the third after Toney singled to center field. Niles flipped the game on its head in the bottom of the sixth, scoring seven runs on seven hits to take the lead, 8-7. The biggest blow in the inning was a double by Vance that drove in two. Rachels earned the win for Niles. The hurler surrendered one hit and three runs (one earned) over three innings, striking out four and walking one. Kuhnle took the loss for Mishawaka Varsity Cavemen. The hurler went six innings, allowing eight runs (six earned) on 13 hits, striking out six and walking two. Racht stepped on the mound first for Niles. The starter gave up three hits and one run over two innings, striking out three and walking two. Mishawaka Varsity Cavemen piled up nine hits in the game. Putz and Ginter were a force together in the lineup, as they each collected two hits for Mishawaka Varsity Cavemen. Pyle and Toney each drove in two runs for Mishawaka Varsity Cavemen. Handley stole two bases. Niles accumulated 13 hits in the game. Lace provided pop in the middle of the lineup, and led Niles with three runs batted in. The number three hitter went 1-for-4 on the day. Olsen led Niles with four hits in four at bats from the leadoff position. Brown, Zache, and Miller each collected multiple hits for Niles.
