Chlebek’s Big Day Propels Mishawaka Junior Varsity Cavemen Past New Prairie Junior Varsity Cougars

April 17, 2026 vs. New Prairie Junior Varsity Cougars Chlebek collected three hits in four at bats, as Mishawaka Junior Varsity Cavemen defeated New Prairie Junior Varsity Cougars 7-5 on Friday at New Prairie High School. Chlebek singled in the second inning, singled in the fourth inning, and singled in the fifth inning. Mishawaka Junior Varsity Cavemen got on the board in the top of the first inning after Mercado hit a sacrifice fly, Fazio singled down the right field line, and Summers was struck by a pitch, each scoring one run. New Prairie Junior Varsity Cougars jumped into the lead in the bottom of the first when Beckner singled, scoring one run, Kleist singled, scoring two runs, and Wilczynski grounded out, scoring one run. New Prairie Junior Varsity Cougars added one run in the second after Beckner walked. Mishawaka Junior Varsity Cavemen took the lead in the top of the fourth inning after Fazio flew out, Valdez doubled down the left field line, and Huemmer doubled down the left field line, each scoring one run. Gorsuch earned the win for Mishawaka Junior Varsity Cavemen. The hurler gave up three hits and zero runs over five innings, striking out five and walking one. Dutcher took the loss for New Prairie Junior Varsity Cougars. The hurler went two innings, allowing four runs on six hits, striking out three and walking one. Chlebek began the game for Mishawaka Junior Varsity Cavemen. The pitcher surrendered two hits and five runs (zero earned) over two innings, striking out one and walking one. Ford led things off on the bump for New Prairie Junior Varsity Cougars. The pitcher surrendered three hits and three runs over three innings, striking out four and walking four. Mishawaka Junior Varsity Cavemen collected 10 hits in the game. Huemmer, Valdez, Fazio, Summers, and Mercado each drove in one run for Mishawaka Junior Varsity Cavemen.
