Mishawaka Cavemen Varsity fell behind early and couldn’t come back in a 14-0 loss to Northridge on Friday. Northridge took the lead on a double in the first inning.
The Mishawaka Cavemen Varsity struggled to contain the high-powered offense of Northridge, giving up 14 runs.
Northridge got things moving in the first inning, when Gavin Collins doubled on a 0-2 count, scoring two runs.
A single by Gavin Egoendoerfer in the second inning was a positive for Mishawaka Cavemen Varsity.
Carter Gilbert pitched Northridge to victory. The fireballer went five innings, allowing zero runs on one hit, striking out ten and walking one.
Payton Jones took the loss for Mishawaka Cavemen Varsity. The pitcher went four and a third innings, allowing 11 runs on 13 hits and striking out two.
Egoendoerfer went 1-for-2 at the plate to lead Mishawaka Cavemen Varsity in hits.
Northridge racked up 17 hits in the game. Collins, Gilbert, Cam Waters, Trevor Brown, and Kade Sainz all managed multiple hits for Northridge. Collins led Northridge with four hits in four at bats.
