The Mishawaka Cavemen varsity girls basketball team battled to the finish on Saturday evening, coming up just short against a resilient Portage team, 37-34. The Cavemen were led by Jayda Miller (16 points, 5 rebounds, 2 assists, 2 steals, 1 block, and 7 forced personal fouls), Devyn Miller (9 points, 10 rebounds, 2 assists, 2 steals, 4 forced personal fouls, +17 efficiency rating), and Ary Shelton (7 points, 2 rebounds, 2 assists, 2 steals).

Ryleigh Banks, Aujanae Miller, Emma Wendt, Sam Barhydt & Jada Obren were all catalysts throughout the night as well.

Banks ended the night with 9 rebounds, all of which were on the offensive end. She also had 3 steals and forced 6 personal fouls. Aujanae Miller had 6 rebounds and a blocked shot.

The Cavemen are back in action on Thursday evening at the Cave where they’ll take on Jimtown as part of a doubleheader with the boy’s varsity team.
