The Mishawaka Cavemen girls varsity basketball team defeated the Jimmies of Jimtown 42-12 on Thursday evening at the Cave. Mishawaka received contributions from all available varsity players in the victory, while head coach Sarah DeShone earned her first career victory against her alma mater.
Jayda Miller (3 rebounds, 2 assists, and 5 forced personal fouls) and Ary Shelton (1 rebound, 1 assist, 4 steals) netted 10 points apiece to lead Mishawaka offensively
Defensively, the Cavemen were stifling. Sam Barhydt (3 rebounds, 1 steal), Jordan Bobos (1 rebound), Devyn Miller (9 points, 9 rebounds, 1 block, 5 forced personal fouls), and Jada Obren (3 rebounds) all had impressive outputs. So, too, did Ryleigh Banks (7 points, 4 rebounds, 1 assist, 2 steals, 4 forced personal fouls) and Aujanae Miller (4 points, 6 rebounds, 1 steal). Lucia Murillo and Emma Wendt rounded out the Mishawaka scoring with 1 point each.
The Cavemen are back in action tomorrow night at 6:00 PM (JV) and 7:30 PM. While they are home, the games will be played at John Glenn Middle School.
