The Cavemen have now won 3 straight as they rolled to a win over the Elkhart Central Blue Blazers 42-14.
Mishawaka’s offense had no problems as the starters were in for 6 possessions and scored on all 6, and had 417 total yards on offense. The offensive line dominated, as Junior Chris Harness led the Cavemen with 23 carries for 163 yards, and 2 touchdowns. Junior Sam Shively had 8 carries for 108 yards, and 2 touchdown passes (Senior Isaiah Evans and Junior Brad Taylor) for 72 yards. Junior Blake Brown and Senior Cameron Kahlenback had the other two touchdowns for the Cavemen.
The defense also played well, forcing 3 turnovers (2 fumbles, 1 interception.) Senior Noah Staton led the cavemen stingy defense with 8 tackles, Junior C.J. Fisher finished with 6 tackles and 1 interception. The defense played really well, playing fast, and not letting the big plays happen.
There was little doubt on Friday night at Rice field as the Cavemen started fast, and never let their foot off the gas. Mishawaka improves to 4-2 on the season and play at St. Joe next week.
The Cavemen seem to be heading in the right direction, at the right time, as the state tournament is right around the schedule.
