The Mishawaka Swimming & Diving Teams traveled to the Goshen Middle School Natatorium early Saturday morning to compete in the annual Goshen Red Hawk Relays meet. This is a much anticipated, “just for fun” meet that offers both individual boys & girls as well as mixed(co-ed) relay events. We have always had a positive experience at this meet and welcome the unique opportunity to connect and build relationships with other teams – many of which we do not compete against in our regular season. Upon arrival, the Goshen teams were waiting to greet us with a cheer tunnel! This is just one of the many examples of positivity and true sportsmanship we experienced and continue to see each year. Another example is how each team took the time to cheer for not only their own teammates but also their opponents after their own teams had finished. If there were swimmers still racing, then the teams were still cheering regardless of which team was swimming.
Mishawaka finished 3rd of 7 teams, with a total score of 154! Our divers started the meet out very strong with great performances in the 3-round diving event. We had a total of 26 PR’s(personal records) with many notable swims. Our teams secured 2nd place in both the Girls 200 Breaststroke and the Girls 200 Backstroke Relays, as well as the Boys 200 Breaststroke Relay. We took home 1st place in the daunting 800 Mixed Freestyle Relay and won the Boys 200 Butterfly Relay for the 3rd consecutive year running! Please join us at our next home meet this Tuesday, the 10th as we compete against the St. Joe Indians. We hope to see you there – Go Cavemen!
