Cavemen News · Mishawaka’s Drew Mason Signs with William Penn

Mishawaka Senior running back Drew Mason signed his National Letter of Intent with William Penn University in Oskaloosa, Iowa.  “I’ve been looking forward to doing this for a long time,” said Mason.   “You get to see the people you go to school with do this and finally it’s your day and you get to see all of the people who love and support you when you’re moving onto the next level.”   Coach Keith Kinder going to school at WP and playing for the Statesmen is a great fit.  “He’s so fun to be around, he’s well rounded.  I think it’s a great place for him.  He told me early on in the process that this was his favorite place, before he had even visited there.  I think he likes the fact that they run the similar offense that we do here.”

Drew told us that this decision just feels right for his future.  “They were communicating with me before my visit.  I loved what I saw.  Great communication with the coaches and players who went there.  When you find out they run the triple option on top of all that.  That makes the final decision right there.”

Coach Kinder said his senior leader had some incredible moments and incredible games.   Mason didn’t take those moments for granted.  “Some people I need to thank, my teammates for everything they did.  Every teammate, every teacher and every coach I’ve had.  My mom, dad, my aunt, my grandma, everybody.  They pushed me to be where I am and I just can’t say anything more but Thank you.”   Coach Kinder concluded by saying, “I think he’s going to be a good football player, but what I’m really excited about is 10-15 years from now to see what kind of husband and dad he is.  He’s a good kid and a great person and he makes me really proud.”
