Cavemen News · Once, Twice, Three Times is NICE! Sectional Champs Again

The Mishawaka Football team became the first team in school history to win 3 straight sectional championships.  Coach Kinder talked after the game about how much he loves this team and the way they keep fighting for each other.  Before this season, Cavemen teams had won two sectionals in a row 4 other times.  90-91, 09-10, 12-13, and 15-16.

Mishawaka won the title game 49-21.  It didn’t come without a serious fight by South Bend Adams.  The Eagles took the lead on Mishawaka 21-20 in the 3rd quarter.  That, among other things served as a wake up call to the Cavemen.  Drew Masson ran for 234 yards and 4 touchdowns.  After the game he thanked the fans who were there as well as all the fans watching and listening at home.  He talked about former players and said when he’s older he’ll tell his kids about nights like this.

Quarterback Justin Fisher ran for 88 yards and 2 touchdowns, while Milan Burris added 56 yards on the ground and a big score in the 4th quarter.

Mishawaka is now 7-3 after an 0-3 start.  Next Friday the Cavemen travel to Valparaiso to face the 3rd ranked Vikings who improved to 7-0 with a 35-21 win over LaPorte.   Valparaiso ended Mishawaka’s season last year with a resounding 49-0 victory in the Regional at Steele Stadium.
