This summer, the Mishawaka Board of School Trustees unanimously voted to allow the athletic department to use crowdfunding campaigns to help with fundraisers.  There will be up to 9 sports per year using “ask campaigns” to help with extras their teams need.  The Mishawaka Football program is about to launch their campaign through FanAngel.  “This is an exciting time for our coaches, student athletes and teams”, said Mishawaka Director of Athletics Dean Huppert.  “Our department provides the necessities like uniforms, equipment and travel, but there are so many extras that help make a quality program.”

This year Mishawaka will host campaigns for Football-July, X-Country-August, Cheerleading-September, Boys Soccer-October, Girls Basketball-November, Wrestling-January, Softball-February, Boys Track-March, and Girls Tennis-April.   “Our coaches want excellence and this is another way to safely achieve that.  Kids won’t be going door to door.  They won’t be handling money or delivery goods.  It’s all done online and we can now include Cavemen fans all over the world.”

The football fundraiser is online now and soon family and friends will be getting an email or text asking for the donation to help purchase new travel bags.  The goal is $10,000, and money left over will help with things like workout and game day meals.  “This is a game changer for our athletic teams”, said Huppert.  Instead of selling chicken on the corner or cookie dough, teams can get the community and Mishawaka fans across the country involved and pulling together for a single cause.”
