Mishawaka’s Brendon Mark signed with Indiana Tech this morning. The senior plans to study business administration and continue his wrestling career with the Titans. “I chose them because they had more of a friendly environment. They treated me like family right away.” Coach Thomas Pompei is excited to get a wrestler the caliber of Mark who has been a steady force for the Cavemen for 4 years. “He’s got good technique, he’s got good coaching, and all that translates really well to the next level.”
Mark was a Northern Indiana Conference Champ and Sectional Champ in 2020. He was a Regional Runner-up and qualified for the IHSAA State Championships. “If you go back to 8th grade, even freshman year, I don’t know that you ever thought if college was an option or even wrestling in college was an option, and now here he is,” said Mishawaka Head Wrestling Coach Steve Sandefer. “We’re really proud of him.” Mark said, “At first I wasn’t really expecting to wrestle in college, but after Indiana Tech showed interest in me, it really set a spark in me to wrestle at the next level.”
Coach Sandefer said Mark has been one of the best and will be hard to replace. “I’m pretty sure he’s in the top 10 of all time wins in Mishawaka history. He’s part of Mishawaka Royalty.” Mark finished by saying, “I’m proud of what I’ve done individually and as a team and it just feels good to know that I left my “mark” on Mishawaka Wrestling.”
Mark will join fellow Senior Jacob LaPlace at Indiana Tech. LaPlace was signed with the Titans in January.
