Cavemen News · Mishawaka Boys Basketball will be Fast and Furious

Mishawaka’s basketball team opened up with a scrimmage against 2019 2A Regional Finalist Westview.  One thing Coach Ron Hecklinski found out about his team is they’re not afraid to get after the other team on defense.  And he has a lot of guys who will be ready to run the floor when their number is called.  After the practice game, Coach said, ”  Number one, I think we have a lot to work on.  I liked our intensity from our standpoint of coming out and trying to get things done.  Now we have a film.  We can break a film down.”   Coach said Mishawaka has had only 8 or 9 practices because of the success of the football team.   The Sectional Championship pushed the opener for the Cavemen from this week to at Goshen on December 5th.  Misahawaka will open at home on December 10th against Elkhart Memorial.   Donovan Snyder and DaVonn Parker could not play in the scrimmage because they hadn’t gotten in enough practices since football season.  “Our little freshman  Maddux Yohe is a really really good player.  We got some contributions out of Raheem (Braiton) tonight.  I thought Nick (Hoopingarner) did really well, attacked the glass.  So we’re gonna play 7, 8, 9 players.   They have the capabilities to get up and down a little bit.  They have some athleticism.  They can press a little bit.  They can play an exciting brand of basketball once we get tuned in.”
