Mishawaka Wrestler Joseph Walker has signed his national letter of intent with the University of Michigan. The senior is a two time IHSAA State Qualifier who placed 6th last year. He enters this season ranked #1 in Indiana at 182 lbs. Is is also a 2019 Super 32 third place finisher and a Grappler Fall Classic Champion in 2018. At his signing at Mishawaka High School, Walker said, “It’s exciting. I’ve been waiting for this day. It’s been a long journey, going to a lot of colleges figuring out what is the best fit.”
He likes Michigan’s medical program. In the future, he’d like to be an anesthesiologist. Cavemen Head Coach Steve Sandefer said, “Joe is overall a great kid. Strong in his academics. Strong in athletics. And more importantly, strong in his faith. Awesome family. He’s one of the hardest working ones in the room. I had to ask him without wrestling, what is your dream school.”
Mishawaka opens the season at home Thursday December 5th against South Bend Adams. They will travel to Plymouth on December 7th to participate in the Plymouth Invite. And mark your calendars for Friday December 27th and Saturday December 28th as Mishawaka will host the Al Smith Invitational.
