Mishawaka had a scare in the opening round of the 4A Girls Basketball Sectional, but the Cavemen held on to win 51-46. It was Mishawaka’s first postseason win since 2015. Seniors Jayda Miller, Aryana Shelton and Devyn Miller led the way down the stretch. First year Coach Sarah DeShone told the girls after the game that she was proud of the effort. Mishawaka had ups and downs throughout the game, but as Coach DeShone said, “This is Indiana Basketball. It’s the tournament. Any win is huge in the Sectional is big!”
Mishawaka will now face LaPorte Saturday night at 6:30 in game 1 of the Sectional at The Cave at Mishawaka High School. Game 2 will feature the winner of St. Joe and Adams and Penn vs Clay.
