Mishawaka and Clay battled to a 0-0 tie in regulation at the South Bend Boys Soccer Sectional opener Monday night. The game had 2 seven minute overtimes and the game was still scoreless. It went to a shootout where Cavemen Senior Goalie Tristan Snider made 3 big saves. The final shot by the Colonials sailed over the cross bar and set off a celebration by the Cavemen. Mishawaka first year coach Josh Aaron told the kids, “Half the state is done today. And we’re not one of them. It feels good to get a win and it doesn’t matter how you get it. You survive and you advance.”
Mishawaka’s goals in the shootout came from Seniors Patton Snyder and Nick Rybicki, Junior Chris Beaver and Freshman Takoda Stone.
Mishawaka will now play Riley Wednesday at 7:30. The Wildcats beat LaPorte 3-1.
